Tech giant Baidu making China a leader In Augmented Reality.
While Pokémon Go did much to introduce augmented reality (AR) to the general public, Chinese technology company Baidu believes gaming is by no means the only way to popularize this futuristic medium. The search engine operator, often dubbed the Google of China, started to work on AR two years ago. Currently, the company is working with global brands including L’Oreal, KFC and Lancôme to make AR-based advertisements, which allow consumers to interact with computer-generated virtual products through their smartphones.
Emirates launches blankets made 100% from plastic bottles.
Emirates has introduced new sustainable blankets made from 100 per cent recycled plastic bottles. The soft and warm blankets are made using ecoTHREAD patented technology and are now available in Economy Class on all long-haul Emirates flights. Each Emirates ecoTHREAD blanket is made from 28 recycled plastic bottles. The environmentally-friendly blankets are designed in partnership with Buzz, an inflight product specialist, and are part of Emirates' continued commitment to product innovation and sustainability
Gloo.ng raises funds from angel investor, plans to launch four new products in 2017.
Gloo.ng, a Nigerian online supermarket, which describes itself as the biggest in Africa, has raised an undisclosed amount of funds from an angel investor. CEO and Chief Glootian, Olumide Olusanya made this announcement in a series of tweets yesterday. The fresh funds will be used to launch four new products/service this year, namely Butchery, GlooTrack, Farm-to-Table concept, and Enterprise Consumables Management Software.
