Post from my personal account/my fitness journey thus far. Warning: about to get a little sappy.
Two years ago to this day I stepped foot into the gym for the first time and it changed (and also probably saved) my life. After the year that stole both my mom & brother from my family, it was hard to find things to be happy about. I gained 50+ pounds in a matter of 4 months and constantly felt bad for myself and was self conscious about who I had turned into.
I realized one day that even though I couldn't eliminate everything in my life that caused me sadness and pain, there were some things that I could control to make the days a little easier to get through. The only reason that I was overweight and miserable with the way I looked was because of me. It was no one else's fault or responsibility to change but my own. I knew it didn't have to be this way, so I decided to stop feeling bad for myself and started changing the negative aspects of my life however possible.
Working out gave me something to look forward to, it gave me goals to reach and motivation to keep moving forward no matter how difficult life may be. It's a hell of a lot easier to go the the gym for a few hours a day than to wake up miserable. Fitness is beyond important to me. It literally saved me from myself, and I have no idea where I'd be without it.
One thing that fitness has given me that I will forever love is the ability to inspire & help other people to do the same when they ask. I want to be able to help people who want to better themselves, because I know how much of a difference it's made in my own happiness. I get a lot of questions about my workouts, how I lost weight, my diet, etc, so I've started a fitness Instagram account where I'll be posting workouts & videos & all things fitness for those who may want to get started, need some advice or just need a little extra push. Hopefully one day soon I'll be a Certified Personal Trainer and can help people one on one with their goals, but for now this is the best I've got. 🙂
